Glaucoma management

We use the latest technologies for the early detection and treatment of glaucoma to prevent vision loss and preserve optic nerve health

The silent thief of sight… Detect it early to protect your eyes.

What is Glaucoma ?

Glaucoma is a disease that affects the optic nerve as a result of increased intraocular pressure, leading to gradual damage of the nerve and permanent vision loss if not diagnosed and treated early.

What makes glaucoma dangerous is that it often causes no symptoms in its early stages, which is why it is called “the silent thief of sight.”

Types of Glaucoma we treat :

  1. Primary open-angle glaucoma (most common)

  2. Angle-closure glaucoma (may cause sudden eye pain)

  3. Congenital glaucoma

  4. Secondary glaucoma (caused by inflammation, trauma, or long-term use of medications such as corticosteroids)

  5. Normal-tension glaucoma

Symptoms of Glaucoma (usually in advanced stages) :

  • Gradual loss of peripheral vision

  • Blurred or tunnel vision

  • Eye pain (in some types)

  • Sudden headache or nausea with colored halos around lights (in acute glaucoma)

Do not wait for symptoms to appear… regular eye exams are the key!

How do we diagnose glaucoma ?

Our glaucoma evaluation includes :

  • Intraocular pressure measurement (Tonometry)

  • Optic nerve imaging (OCT)

  • Visual field test (Perimetry)

  • Corneal thickness measurement (Pachymetry)

  • Examination of the drainage angle (Gonioscopy)

We use the latest diagnostic devices to ensure accurate and early detection.

What treatment options are available ?

• Medical treatment :

Eye drops to reduce intraocular pressure, such as:

  • Prostaglandins

  • Beta-blockers

  • Alpha agonists

  • Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors

• Laser (Laser Trabeculoplasty) :

Used for open-angle glaucoma to improve fluid drainage from the eye.

• Microsurgeries :

If drops or laser fail to control the pressure:

  • Trabeculectomy surgery

  • Drainage implants (Ahmed valve)

  • Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS)
